Decrease in Pitches
MAKE EVERY PITCH COUNT WITH "THE PITCHER’S EYE®”.
 |
 |
Major League Baseball now charts the number of pitches
a pitcher throws to a given batter, whether it
is a hit, walk, error or an out. This is putting
an emphasis on pitching strategies with pitch
count. The difference, as this web site is being
built, is the highest pitches thrown per batter
is 4.71 to the best at 3.13, a 34% difference.
Imagine the difference at the Little League,
High School and College levels. The pitcher’s
eye trains a pitcher to throw less but more effective pitches.
With less pitches comes less fatigue and less
chance of injury.

Statistics
Little League of America® has gone to a pitch count,
not innings pitched which is putting an emphasis
on new pitching strategies with pitch count. To
keep your pitcher in the game help them see the target.
Just imagine the difference between 4.71 and 3.13
pitches thrown over a major league season. Say the
pitcher faces 38 batters a game, multiple that by
the difference of 1.58 pitches x 38= 60. Multiply
that by 162 games = 9726. The point of THE PITCHER'S EYE® is to
see the target, to throw less but more effective
pitches. Over a course of a season there is a 10,000
pitch difference from 3.13 to 4.71. Remember this
is the major leagues; these are the best pitchers
in the world. Starting in 2007, Little League of
America is going to a pitch count and not innings
pitched. The intention of THE PITCHER'S EYE® is to throw less but
more effective pitches. This will help decrease fatigue
and risk of potential injury.
